ORNL Supercomputer

Industrial Automation

C-Tech installed the industrial controls for the water cooling system of the Summit supercomputer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Redundant Allen-Bradley processor PLCs handle tower staging and pump management.

The system is capable of rejecting 20 megawatts of heat from the IBM processors.

Industrial Automation

C-Tech modernized the MTSU boiler plant with state-of-the-art Allen-Bradley controls and workstations, bringing existing boiler control panels and operator workstations up to the latest Allen-Bradley PLC technology. Operators can now locate and repair boiler components faster, which improves uptime.

The plant's natural gas turbine generates electricity to offset part of the campus demand, and its heat recovery boiler turns waste heat from the turbine into steam for campus HVAC heating and domestic water heating.
